Grand Opening!
Choose the Right Size:
Life jackets come in various sizes based on weight and chest measurements. Check the label for the recommended weight range and size to find the appropriate fit for the wearer.
Put on the Life Jacket:
Slip the life jacket over your head or arms, depending on the design. Ensure that the jacket is positioned correctly, with the front side facing outward.
Fasten All Straps:
Secure all buckles, zippers, and straps. Make sure to tighten them to ensure a snug fit. If the jacket is adjustable, adjust the straps to eliminate any slack.
Check the Fit:
Chest Fit: The life jacket should fit snugly around the chest without being too tight. You should be able to take a deep breath comfortably.
Shoulder Fit: The shoulder straps should not be too loose. If the life jacket rides up when you lift your arms, it may be too big or not adjusted properly.
Perform the Test:
Raise your arms above your head. The life jacket should stay in place and not ride up over your chin or ears. If it does, adjust the straps or consider a different size.
Check the Buckles:
Ensure that all buckles and straps are secure and that there are no frayed or damaged areas on the life jacket.
Inspect for Proper Floatation:
If possible, test the life jacket in shallow water to ensure it provides adequate buoyancy. It should keep your head above water and allow you to float comfortably.
Wear It Correctly:
Always keep the life jacket on while on the water. It should be worn at all times, especially when engaging in activities like swimming, wake surfing, or boating.
Additional Tips:
Choose the Right Type: There are different types of life jackets (Type I, II, III, etc.) designed for various activities. Make sure you choose one appropriate for your specific use.
Regular Maintenance: Inspect the life jacket regularly for any signs of wear and tear, and replace it if it shows signs of damage or if it’s past its expiration date.
Stay Hydrated: Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially during hot weather. Consider packing some healthy snacks as well!
Dress Appropriately: Don’t forget your swimsuit, sunglasses, and a hat for sun protection!
Sunscreen is a Must: Apply waterproof sunscreen regularly to protect your skin from sunburn, even on cloudy days.
